Finding Your Voice: Artist Statements & Elevator Pitches

Second Street Gallery’s Professional Practices for Artists program is a three-session series designed to support artists at various stages of their careers by providing practical tools, knowledge, and confidence to navigate the professional art world.

This session focuses on helping artists clearly and confidently articulate their work. Participants will learn how to write a compelling artist statement that reflects their practice, materials, and ideas, as well as how to craft a concise elevator pitch for conversations with curators, collectors, and fellow artists.

Topics include:

  • What makes an effective artist statement

  • Adapting your statement for different audiences and opportunities

  • Writing and refining a short elevator pitch

  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

  • Peer feedback and guided revision

The workshop is available at $40 SSG members / $50 non-members. Finding Your Voice is designed for emerging and mid-career artists seeking to strengthen their professional practice, though artists at all stages are welcome

This is an in-person workshop held at Second Street Gallery and will be lead by Kristen Chiacchia with CM Turner.
