In February/March 2022, Second Street Gallery invited community members of all ages to participate in a call for writing submissions inspired by the artwork in Stuart Robertson’s exhibition, A Suh Wi Dweet in the Main Gallery at SSG from February 4 - March 25, 2022. Artist Stuart Robertson assembles found materials to create celebratory representations of friends and family. He depicts both his biological and chosen family from a place of protection and care. By combining metallic debris, textiles, and paints, Robertson conveys subtle stories which bring his paintings to life.

In our call to the community, SSG invited people to consider how you can use language as a tool to celebrate someone you cherish. The prompt for this call was conceptualized by visiting scholar and writer, Luke Williams. Learn more about Williams on his website.
