Youth Art Workshop with Draw Charlottesville

On September 11, 2021, Second Street Gallery and Draw Charlottesville presented a FREE hands-on youth workshop in the Main Gallery. During this workshop, participants created works of art expressing what is important to them about Charlottesville and to help build a collection of community-made art that explores the diverse array of experiences and perspectives in our town. Participants created a basic accordion sketchbook with paper and then used various mediums to explore one of the prompts: “Draw a place in Charlottesville that brings you joy," “Draw a place in Charlottesville that represents what Charlottesville means to you," or "Draw a place in Charlottesville that you would reimagine." Younger children used photographs from around Charlottesville to create collages based on these prompts using a variety of materials.
