Navigating Opportunities: Open Calls & Approaching Galleries

This Professional Practices session demystifies the application process and offers strategies for identifying and pursuing opportunities that align with an artist’s goals. Artists will gain insight into how galleries review submissions and how to approach institutions professionally and thoughtfully.

Topics include:

  • How to find and evaluate open calls and exhibition opportunities

  • Understanding submission requirements and selection criteria

  • Preparing strong application materials

  • Tips for researching and approaching galleries

  • Professional communication and follow-up strategies

  • Q&A and shared experiences

The workshop is available at $50 SSG members / $65 non-members. This program is designed for emerging and mid-career artists seeking to strengthen their professional practice, though artists at all stages are welcome.
