First Friday Extended Hours: Live Musical Performance and Q & A with Ryan Trott

Second Street Gallery is hosting a special, music-infused First Friday event on March 6, 5pm-7pm, with exhibiting artist Ryan Trott. Starting at 5:30PM, he will be in the Main Gallery to treat visitors to a live performance as they peruse the fanciful images and objects he creates. Everyone is invited to linger until the performance concludes and Trott opens the floor to a Q&A session.

An elementary art educator, visual artist, and musician based in Charlottesville, Virginia, Trott’s works on view in Mixed Bag explores everyday objects, people, and plants interacting in lighthearted, dreamlike scenes of bright color. Containing paintings and papier-mâché sculptures—each paired with a musical soundtrack composed and recorded by the artist—Trott offers an opportunity for visitors to explore how sound impacts and enhances our understanding of the physical world, while inviting them to create their own narrative associations within and between the artworks.

Mixed Bag is generously sponsored by the Pontillo-Galdencio Family, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
