SSG cares deeply about working with local and regional educators to supplement art education in the schools.

Since 2000, SSG has co-hosted Educator Workshops with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Statewide Partnership Program. These workshops are structured around Virginia state curriculum requirements. Since 2005, SSG has worked with the Piedmont Council of the Arts so that the workshops can be free and more accessible to teachers.

In-School Art Workshops seek to reach a wide variety of children and educators in varying environments, from elementary to high school students, in both public and private institutions.

SSG sponsors ten in-school workshops throughout the year, led by visiting exhibiting artists. These workshops are held at schools in Charlottesville city and surrounding counties and offer students an opportunity to participate in creative, artmaking activities. These workshops are tailored to complement and supplement students' art education in the classroom.
