Artist Spotlight: Bill Moretz
In our Artist Spotlight series, we have been bringing you a closer look at the artists in our Inside the Artist’s Studio exhibition! In this installment, we’ve talked with Bill Moretz all about his creative process, his experience with preparing for the exhibition, and of course, his studio.
How would you describe your creative process?
“My creative process is looking and thinking about everything around me.”
What is your most important tool/something you could not live without in your studio?
“My most important tool is my camera.”
How do pieces change from the studio to the gallery?
“Artwork takes on a new life in a gallery. Making photographs is a personal creative undertaking but in a gallery that work becomes a shared experience”

What was the biggest challenge in documenting someone’s creative process?
“Biggest challenge was how to convey Russ’ thought process through photography. I have known Russ and admired his work for many years. Doing this project allowed me a more comprehensive and in-depth insight into his creative process.”
Describe your studio space in a few words.
“My studio space is anywhere I have a camera with me.”
Stay tuned to hear more from Bill later this week!
