Artists on Location is a program where exhibiting artists interact with the community. We pair artists to do activities with residents of all of ages depending on the interests and expertise of the exhibiting artists. Activities range from workshops with the Boys and Girls Club to activities with CHS to artist’s talks with PVCC students.

We partner with the Charlottesville City Schools to offer an Art Club to a city school afterschool art club with local artists: We will provide 8-12 after-school workshops annually for elementary students. These workshops allow students an opportunity to participate in hands-on art activities in a variety of media with a variety of artists as well as contributing to an artistic community

Second Street Saturdays (SSS) is a program that tries to activate the gallery space on the weekend.  SSS is a variety of activities such as Traditional Indian Painting Workshop, African Drumming Workshop, and artist’s talks

Spring Break Workshops at the Boys and Girls Club: Exhibiting, visiting, and area artists, supported by SSG staff, will lead artist-led hands on workshops for students each session.

Family Art Day at SSG, offers free hands-on art making activities with multiple artist’s workstations, city wide elementary school art activity, and refreshments for families.
