The Backroom @SSG: Carol Barber
POSTED ON 9.26.2018
Second Street Gallery is pleased to present a new exhibition by artist Carol Barber in The Backroom @SSG. The exhibition will run from September 7-October 26.
The exhibition is a collection of Barber's work on paper and canvas. Her journey into abstraction started when she began to cut pieces of painting paper for collage work, falling in love with the shapes, colors, and compositions the scraps of discarded paper made. Her work, inspired by the seemingly random displays on her studio floor, presents a unqiue balance of chaos and control, and yet is open to the emotion and interpretations generated by the viewer.
Carol Barber recieved her B.F.A from James Madison University and a M.F.A. from Radford University. She received an Award of Excelence from the Central Virginia Watercolor Guild Annual exhibition in 2015 and is a member of the BozArt Fine Art Collective in Charlottesville. Barber current resides in Barboursville, Virginia.
