December 4, 2015 – January 30, 2016
This interdisciplinary show in the Main Gallery highlights the works of seven artists from the East Coast and mid-West paired with the Dové Gallery showing of a new lyrical short video by the Charlottesville-based Robinson.
Showcasing works that express complementary environmental themes, this exhibition provides an intimate look at contrasting natural and industrial spaces – in sharp focus, as welcoming, temporal, vast, or foreboding – or ideas of use and obsolescence in urban and rural contexts.
This is the first of several shows that will occur in the gallery this season and next that feature artists curatorially selected from Second Street Gallery’s 2013 Artist Review Panel submissions: Stefan Chinov (Dayton, OH), Morgan S. Craig (Philadelphia, PA), Michael Hough (Bridgewater, VA), Eric Kniss (Harrisonburg, VA), Robert Llewellyn (Earlysville, VA), Molly Sawyer (Ashville, NC), and J. Michael Simpson (Rockhill, SC).
