HANDS-ON ART WORKSHOPS

Throughout the year, SSG sponsors ten hands-on art workshops as part of the Community Initiative, an outreach program designed to reach out to our underserved neighbors in the Charlottesville area. Workshops are offered throughout the year, in which local artists lead participants in a variety of artmaking activities. The workshops are strategically planned to supplement the club members' art education in their local schools. Past artist participants include Dean Dass, Russell Richards and Mara Sprafkin. SSG has been selected by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to collaborate in their Statewide Partnership Program, which provides access to renowned artists available for hands-on workshops.
